Film as trance
I am thinking a lot about film as trance, and how much of filmmaking can potentially be accurately described in these terms?
And how that understanding of the medium provides some interesting exits from the conventional constraints of teleological storytelling? What is an engaging story if not a successful invocation of a trance? And what kinds of trance can be invoked, and what is the nature of them, and also in these terms what are the ethics of such invocations?
